Playing around with maps. A content master’s day is always busy.
I thought I’d make a map showing the football clubs in London. The key is pretty self explanatory and when you hover over the pins you get club information (address, phone number and league) as well as the website if you click on the team name.
Wow Sean, amazing!
I suppose with a bit of time and effort there are loads of things that you could create, how about:
- A map of free resources within a city?
- A pub crawl for you and your mates?
- A list of comic book stores within a local area?
- A map of respectable SEO agencies in England? (lol, at an empty map)
- Your favourite restaurants in the UK?
O.k so the food over here is pretty shit but I’m sure that there are millions more ideas that you could think of.
Create my pretties!
CONTENT! MAPS! ,
i heard if you map out all the places Baconians had chatted about batshit crazy alternate author theories since 1616 you get an image of Shakespeare giving the Tupac fingers.. but this is speculative..
would be cool to see a band layout like grateful dead shows in a particular year.. “Dude..73..you should’ve been there..” “I was born in 79.” “Still, dude, you should’ve been there.” “Stop bogarting that..”
Ahhh, ’73. Or as I like to call it, the year they played all that awesome stuff they released in ’70.
There is a chronological version of songs played by year: http://www.scribd.com/fullscreen/60257224 – but similar to what you mentioned, I would love to see a map of shows by venue, by location, with size of the dot based upon number of shows, and coloration based upon span of time played there.
On a sidenote, I love the fact that the Dead are still inspiring interesting visualizations…
That’s an epic link, cheers for sharing! I’d be keen on making something like that if I was a fan but, well, I’m not 🙂
if you cross the times i’ve waxed rolled eyes on text, endless hours of idly playing with action figures in a three-story row home at the genesis, with the times i’ve played laser tag on a boat..i’ve forgotten why i started this sentence.
There are 3 comments to this post and I’m not quite sure how to reply to any of them. Good work!
Was that just made in Google Maps or in a 3rd party widgety thingy?
Hey Jeremy, 3rd party widgety thingy. If you click on the top right it will take you to the tool I used 🙂
