If I read about how exact keyword domains are being ‘dampened’ one more time I’m going to have a seizure. I’ve reviewed some of the most expensive keywords for adsense clicks, so you can rest assured that these are fairly competitive areas within the SERPs.
So if you are in anyway confused about whether EKD’s still hold some sway check out the following searches (in Google.co.uk, probably also .com)
- att call conference
- personal injury solicitor
- criminal attorney
- poor credit finance
- life insurance quotes
- debt consolidation loan
- poor credit loans
- home equity loans
- celebrex firms
- vasectomy reversal (lol)
- auto insurance quotes
- critical illness insurance
- commodity online
- refinance mortgage
Funny right? The great thing is there are thousands of these sites out there with shit content and less links than their competitors yet they still rank! Brilliant!
If you ever see anyone writing about how exact keyword domains don’t work anymore please send them this way. 🙂
Exact Keyword Domains, They Fucking Work!,
Greatest commiserations to you on the eve of this outstanding observation that has forthwith been referred to my attention by the popularity of the posts for which your writing style has been most fulfilling to this topic for which i had been searching.
Bon Voyage!

What are those the words? Get your fucking videos sorted. They are in demand, 5,000 internets per video view.
I like it and couldn’t have said it better myself.. I view keyword domain names like a shortcut , really good for dominating local search in my very limited experience. I like your sense of humour too, too many stiffs working in Seo. Might even turn my own SEO blog into one big Piss take aimed at all those TOPSEO’S.
“Might even turn my own SEO blog into one big Piss take aimed at all those TOPSEO’S.”
Haha, do it 🙂
Same thing for hyphens in the domain name. I can’t count how many times I’ve heard it was a “spam signal” to Google but I rank them like crazy. I gotta think it’s the people getting beat by them that are putting out this kind of disinformation.
Agreed.
“If you have more than 2 hyphens in a domain name it won’t rank!”
Fuck off.
Keyword domains knock the shit out of SERPS. It’s common sense the first place the bots see is the domain name , back up with rock solid industry leading cOntent , quality and quantity. Good solid link building = win
Sounds like #winning to me Duncan.
I disagree. Exact match domains do not work. That’s why over at bestlookingmanintheworld.com we work really, really hard to get top 10 rankings for our primary keywords, WITHOUT the benefit of an exact mat-er….uh… wait, nevermind. Carry on.
Exact match domains work, but it’s not really worth it unless you have a niche really worth going after. Lots of people use exact match domains for the quick win, but don’t realize with a decent silo of content they can rank for it, and other things as well on a larger domain. Exact matches are limiting IMO, but yes they still work…
Yeah but Joel you do link build the shit out of that term! 😉
To be fair Keith do you think that the Best Looking Man in the World site above would rank for the term if it had a “decent silo of content”??
Are you calling my content indecent?
I think it’s the most decent content around. How dare you. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?
Haha, there’s no doubt that the page you have on the site is awesome 😉 I think Keith was saying that normally you need more than one decent page…
Phew.
I’ve no doubt that EKDs work. But when a client has already got an established domain, backlinks and content, I find it hard to judge whether a new site from scratch is going to cost less effort for the rankings than working on the old site. Most of the time I’ve ended up sticking with the assets that are there and working on them. ‘S a tough one.
after last weekend’s panda 3.whatever I’m seeing exact match domains even more. I think one of the big benefits is you can’t really get knocked for having exact match anchor text because it’s your “brand.” So while other’s may get “dampened” for too much targeted anchor text, the exact match domain won’t because it’s their damn site and expected. So yea…still works here.
