Artists Gonna Art
Basically artists aren’t born with super artist skills, they are merely people who do art. As with anything the more you do something the better you’ll get, all you need is a little motivation and the determination to learn a craft.
The realism or simplistic nature of this interests me a great deal. I was told as a kid that I wasn’t very good at art (amongst other things ;)) Because of this I figured I wasn’t very creative so I never even considered making stuff.
I’ve spent some time in the past making music (I’ve made some ‘stuff’ that you can find here) and will be buying Ableton & Push (sexy eh?) in the new year. I am also looking to make ‘art’ where I can and via a variety of mediums. You can see my 1st effort in my last post and a new edition rvll above. I want to make a lot of stuff in the new year and aim to put a lot of time and effort into becoming good enough to say ‘that ain’t half bad’.
The biggest takeaway that I’ve got from the book is that creating stuff is fun, it really isn’t about the sculpted perfect finish (even if I could do that) but about the buzz of creation whether it’s in writing, music or art.
