Don’t worry Moz fans this isn’t a blog post written about Rand. I have nothing nasty to say 🙂

No this post is based around an interesting email I received the other week. I’ve decided to post it but I’ve left the links in because I’m a nice guy.

Dear Rand Fishkin,

I really enjoyed reading your post “Linking Out to Quality Content“. This is a great point that you want to associate yourself with quality information.

I wanted to tell you about our new book on SEO Keyword Strategy.  It helps people get better results from SEO by guiding them to keywords where they get the most bang-for-the-buck.  We show readers how to generate a universe of potential keywords and then analyze them based on search traffic, conversion rates, and the SEO cost.  At the end of the process they get a list of keywords and the projected SEO cost and revenue for each keyword so they can make good financial decisions.

We would love to give you a free hard copy of the book  – just reply with your address and I’ll send out a copy immediately. The book and detailed video tutorials are also available free on our site (no signup).  (www.seomap.com/seo/keyword-strategy/)

If you find it useful, please share our site with your community.  We believe it is a resource that that adds real value by helping people start their SEO campaigns pointing in the right direction.

I look forward to your thoughts and comments.

Who says that outreach with care and attention doesn’t gain quality contextual links?

If you are wondering why someone would email me as ‘Rand Fishkin’ it’s probably understood by reading my ‘hilarious’ About Us page

Dramatic Update 1:

I haven’t been the only person effected by these traumatic emails! Cyrus Shepard has got in touch and it appears that they are targeting the very largest names within the SEOsphere > Further proof of rubbish outreach.

Dramatic Update 2:

Looks like Rand liked the post… I’ll probably use this as a testimonial one day.

      1. You’d best start shopping at Ted Baker and start working on that Seattle Stubble. And possibly get a portable whiteboard.

    1. Cyrus, cheers for dropping by, that screenshot is excellent 🙂

Maybe they are attempting outreach that is so bad that it’s good? Probably not…

  3. Also got the same email. If it sounds too good to be true…

Did anyone actually give their address and get the book? I decided not to as it looked a little strange and I was wondering what could be contained in a book which sole topic is keyword research – seriously, this isn’t a difficult subject to get your head around…

When I emailed them back asking what was contained I got the following response… “It’s pretty extensive coverage of the topic. If you would like me to send you one, just send me your address.”
